This is a 3 to 4 hour trip depending on the mountains! We have to back off the accelerator when ascending hills as the transmission loves to downshift and race (drink gas) and not accomplish much for a few miles an hour faster. We learned to take it out of cruise control in these situations. So, going uphill (a steep grade) might put us at 50 mph while everyone else is at 70!

Willow Beach is part of the Lake Mead and Mojave Lake National Recreation Area. We’re staying at a privately run campground on the Colorado River that’s also a marina, Willow Beach Marina and Campground. While here, we plan to see Hoover Dam and possibly do some kayaking on the river.
